How It Works

Start Winning

Bidding at SoftCanada Auctions is straightforward.
Here's everything you need to know to start winning.

Step-by-Step Process

Create a
free account

You need a registered account to place bids. Sign up for free
it only takes a minute. Once registered, you're ready to bid on any open auction.

Browse lots &
build your Watch List

Explore available lots across electronics, furniture, general merchandise, and more. Add anything you're interested in to your Watch List so you can track it easily as the auction progresses.

Place
your bid

Two ways to bid. Use the quick bid button to place the next minimum increment automatically. Or enter a higher amount to set a proxy bid — the system will bid on your behalf up to your limit, beating competing bids incrementally until your maximum is reached. No one else can see your proxy bid.

Watch
the clock

Every lot has a countdown timer. Lots close in rolling groups — not all at once — so you have equal opportunity to bid on each one. If a bid is placed within the last 2 minutes of a lot closing, the timer automatically extends by 2 minutes. This prevents last-second sniping and keeps bidding fair.

Win and Pay

If you have the highest bid when the lot closes, it's yours. Payment is immediate.

Pick up or arrange delivery

Once payment is confirmed, collect your items at our Stoney Creek warehouse. Pickup is available Tuesday through Saturday, 10am–4pm. You have up to 14 days after payment to pick up. Prefer delivery? Shipping options are available.

Key Rules to Know

Bids are
always binding

Once confirmed, a bid cannot be retracted. If you win, you are responsible for paying and collecting that lot.

Proxy bids
are private

Your maximum bid is never visible to other bidders. The system places incremental bids on your behalf up to your limit.

You'll be
notified if outbid

Outbid notifications are sent by email during the auction. Note: notifications stop once lots begin to close, so keep an eye on your Watch List in the final hours.

Equal bids
go to the earliest

In the rare case of two identical bids, the first one received wins. Bid early if you're serious about a lot.
